Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 3rd issue, Regular Army (312416 Tpr. H. Goswell. 12-L.) mounted for display, nearly very fine £30-£40

Henry Goswell was born in Peckham, London in November 1894. He enlisted in the Cavalry of the Line at Warley in September 1914, and transferred to the 6th Rifle Brigade in June 1915. Goswell served with the 4th Battalion on the Western Front, in the Balkans, and was attached to the 12th and 9th Lancers in 1919. He was transferred to the 12th Lancers in February 1923, and advanced to Lance-Corporal in February 1931 (awarded L.S. & G.C. in April 1933).

Goswell transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps in April 1939, and served during the Second War as a Lance-Sergeant with the 52nd Training Regiment, at Bovington. He was finally discharged, 16 August 1945, having served for 30 years.
