Army L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (Act: Sergt-Major A. Gale U. Burma Vol: Rifles.) officially engraved naming, good very fine £50-£60

Alfred Gale was born in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and attested for the West Riding Regiment at Halifax in August 1891. Having been posted to the 2nd Battalion, Gale advanced to Lance-Corporal in September 1894. He advanced to Sergeant in June 1897, and transferred as First Class Sergeant Instructor in the Upper Burma Volunteer Rifles in November 1899. Gale was appointed Acting Sergeant Major in February 1907 (awarded L.S. & G.C. in May 1910). He was discharged, 16 November 1912, having served 21 years and 90 days.
