Jubilee 1887, Metropolitan Police (PC, D. Watson. H. Divn.) good very fine £140-£180

David Watson was born in Wivenhoe, Essex, on 23 April 1860, and joined the Metropolitan Police at Scotland Yard on 19 February 1883. Posted to ‘H’ (Whitechapel) Division, he was serving with them at the time of the Whitechapel Murders, carried out by ‘Jack The Ripper’ between August and November 1888. He subsequently transferred to ‘V’ (Wandsworth) and ‘G’ (Finsbury) Divisions, and retired on 16 July 1895.
