1914 Star (Cly3/ 1719. J. Inglis, A.B. R.N.V.R. Nelson Bttn. R.N.D.); British War and Victory Medals (M.13209 J. Inglis. E.R.A.3 R.N.); Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (M.13209. J. Inglis. E.R.A. 3Cl. R.N.); together with a gold-plated presentation pocket watch, by the Hamilton Watch Company, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the white enamel dial signed, with black hands, black Arabic numerals, and subsidiary seconds dial, the mechanism numbered ‘637609’, the reverse (inside case) inscribed ‘James Inglis’ and numbered 1888295, with gilt pocket chain, good very fine and better, the watch in working condition (5) £300-£400

James Inglis was born in Glasgow on 12 May 1892, and, having joined the Royal Naval Reserve, entered the Nelson Battalion, Royal Naval Division, on 22 August 1914. He served with them during the Great War on the Western Front, before transferring to the Royal Navy as an Engine Room Artificer on 13 April 1915. He was shore pensioned on 25 April 1919.
