Naval General Service 1793-1840, 2 clasps, Anholt 27 March 1811, 14 Dec Boat Service 1814 (Benjn. Tubby.) light edge bruising and contact marks overall, otherwise nearly very fine £6,000-£8,000

Provenance: Tolton Collection, Glendining’s, July and October 1938; Baldwins, February 1954; now sold by order of the son of the late Australian collector Edward Kennedy, a Gallipoli veteran who died in 1966.

Benjamin Tubby served as a Royal Marine at the defence of Anholt in 1811, and aboard H.M.S. Ramillies at New Orleans on 14 December 1814. He is not shown on the Admiralty roll for Anholt but is verified as present and confirmed for both clasps on the Greenwich Hospital roll.
