M.M. London Gazette 16 August 1917:

‘At Mount Sorrel near Ypres on June 7th, he, although wounded, remained at his duty, and thus set a good example to his comrades.’

Ernest Wynne was born in 1893, and was a native of Brigg, Lincolnshire. He enlisted in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment, 26 May 1916, and served with the 11th Battalion on the Western Front.

Wynne transferred to the Army Reserve, 25 March 1919. He served as a Sergeant with ‘A’ Company, 1st Lindsey Battalion, Home Guard during the Second War. Wynne resided in Scunthorpe in later life.
