General Service 1918-62, 2 clasps, Palestine, Cyprus (781486 Bdr. R. M. H. Kerr. R.A.); 1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 2nd issue, Regular Army (781486 W.O. Cl.1. R. H. M. Kerr. R.E.M.E.) mounted as worn, very fine (6) £140-£180

Roy Herbert Melville Kerr was born in Liverpool in 1914 and attested for the Royal Artillery in 1928. He served in Palestine attached to the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in Sarefard from 15 October 1936 to 24 January 1939, before formally transferring to the R.A.O.C. on 10 February 1941, and was promoted Staff Sergeant on 10 March 1941. He subsequently transferred to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on the 5 May 1944, and was advanced Sergeant Major Armament Artificer Fitter. He was commissioned Lieutenant (E.M.A.E) on 23 October 1954 into the same unit, and was promoted Captain on 25 July 1958, with the ‘Cyprus’ clasp to his General Service Medal being earned as an officer. He was promoted Major (E.M.A.E) on 23 March 1963, and retired on 31 March 1965.
