M. Daniels served during the Second World War with the 5th Field Company, South African Engineering Corps, who were present at El Alamein as part of the 1st South African Division from 23 October to 4 November 1942.

Sold with a copied portrait photograph of the recipient.

Alfred Adrean Daniels was born in Cape Town on 25September 1900, and attested for the Union Defence Force at Cape Town in January 1943. Posted as a Private to the South African Medical Corps, he was found to be ‘medically unfit’, and was discharged at Pretoria in September of the same year.
