Charles Scott Milne was born in Grahamstown, Cape Province, and attested for the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force at Potchefstroom on 12 February 1916. He served with the 1st South African Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front from 9 August 1916, and was posted missing, believed killed in action, on 10 January 1917. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
William David Milne was born in Grahamstown and attested for the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force at Potchefstroom on 2 October 1916. He served with the 2nd South African Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front from 4 July 1916, and was twice wounded in action, suffering gun shot to the chest and knee on 12 October 1916, and to the shoulder on 22 March 1918. He was discharged on 24 May 1919.
