William Ridsdale was born in 1914 and served with the Royal Artillery during the Second World War. He took part in the Normandy campaign with 6th Field Regiment, which had landed on 7 June 1944, and was killed in action/ died in Normandy on 8 August 1944. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial, France.
