Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1902 (7263 Pte. F. M. West. Vl: Coy. R. Suss: Regt.) hairline traces of brooch mounting to obverse, edge bruise, very fine £60-£80

Frederick Moreton West was born in Ealing, Middlesex in 1882 and attested for short service with the Royal Sussex Regiment at Hastings, Sussex, on 11 March 1902, having previously served in the 1st Cinque Ports Rifle Volunteer Company. He served with the 1st Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War from April to July 1902, and was was discharged at his own request on his return home on 12 July 1902 after 124 days’ service.
