A B.E.M. group of seven awarded to Miss Kathleen M. Batey, Women’s Voluntary Service, who served with the W.V.S. in Korea, the Arabian Peninsula, and Borneo

British Empire Medal, (Civil) E.II.R. (Miss Kathleen Mary Batey) on lady’s bow riband, in Royal Mint case of issue; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, both contemporarily engraved ‘Miss K. M. Batey. W.V.S.’; U.N. Korea 1950-54, contemporarily engraved ‘Miss K. M. Batey. W.V.S.’; General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Arabian Peninsula (K. M. Batey, W.V.S.) in named card box of issue; General Service 1962-2007, 1 clasp, Borneo (K. Batey.) in named card box of issue; Women’s Voluntary Service Medal, with Additional ‘Long Service’ Bar, contemporarily engraved ‘Miss K. M. Batey. W.V.S.’, nearly extremely fine and a rare combination (7) £500-£700

B.E.M. London Gazette 11 June 1983: Miss Kathleen Mary Batey, Personal Assistant to Co-ordinator of Premises, H.Q. London, Women’s Royal Voluntary Service.

Miss Kathleen Mary Batey served with the Women’s Voluntary Service in Korea, the Arabian Peninsula, and Borneo, and was awarded her Women’s Voluntary Service Medal for Long Service in June 1964, and the Second Award Bar in 1976. She subsequently served as the Personal Assistant to Co-ordinator of Premises at the organisation’s London Headquarters, and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1983.
