Winston Churchill’s War Coaliton Cabinet, 1946, a bronze presentation medal by W.S. Churchill for Spink, salute to the great coalition 1940-1945 in wreath, rev. to sherwood from winston churchill in wreath, 102mm (Engstrom 13, recté 102mm; BHM 4413). Some light staining and a small reverse rim knock, otherwise extremely fine and patinated, very rare; with original leather pouch [this somewhat distressed] £80-100

Sold with headed notepaper, 28 Hyde Park Gate, London SW7, typewritten “With Mr Churchill’s Compliments.” The recipient, Hugh Michael Seely, Lord Sherwood (1898-1970), was Liberal MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed and Under Secretary of State for Air in Churchill’s coalition government. In 1946 he acquired, and became chairman of, the gunmaker James Purdey & Sons
