Gordon Lorn Campbell Money was born in 1848 and educated privately and at the Royal Military College Sandhurst. He joined the 79th Highlanders in 1868 and was promoted Lieutenant in 1871, Captain in 1880 and Major in 1884. He served on the Nile Expedition 1884-84, was mentioned in despatches and created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order and awarded the Order of Osmanieh for the battle of Ginnis. In 1888 he became brevet Lieutenant-Colonel. In 1894 he was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel and took over command of the regiment and in the following year he was promoted Colonel and appointed A.D.C. to the Queen. He commanded the Cameron Highlanders in the Sudan Campaign 1896-98, was present at the battles of Atbara and Omdurman and thrice mentioned in despatches and created a C.B. In 1901 he was appointed A.D.C. to the King and made Brigadier-General on the Staff in Ceylon. He retired in 1905 and died in 1929.
