Haynes, Royal Engineers, Order of the Bath, Military Division, gold and enamel, ring suspension; South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1878-9; 1914-15 Star; British War and Victory Medals, mounted as worn, good very fine and better (5) £80-100

Colonel Charles Edward Haynes entered the Royal Engineers in 1875 and served in the South African campaign of 1879 where he was twice mentioned in despatches. He served in the Bechuanaland Expedition of 1884-85 and attained the rank of Colonel in 1907. He was created a C.B. in 1911 and retired in 1912 but was re-employed at the Admiralty during the Great War.
