Maharajpoor Star 1843 (Private James Tuly, H.M. 39th Regt.), later ring and bar, crudely riveted backstrap suspension, and matching upper bar for wearing, arm points bruised, about very fine £160-180

James Tuly joined the 39th Regiment from England in September 1840 and was garrisoned at Kemptee prior to participating in the Battle of Maharajpoor in December 1843. Advanced to Corporal soon after to returning to the U.K. in May 1847, Tuly had the misfortune to be imprisoned and reduced to Private while stationed in Canterbury a couple of months later; further research is required for the remainder of his time with the Colours.
