Colonial Police Medal for Gallantry London Gazette 3 January 1939, and Palestine Gazette 2 January 1939: ‘For gallantry on 5th October 1938 during engagements against armed men in the Safad sub-district.’

Harry Boulton was born in about 1904, and as a boy soldier joined the Army. He served with the 10th Hussars in India and joined the Palestine Police in 1930. By 1938 he was a Sergeant and universally known by his nickname of ‘Dinkie’. He left the Force in 1948, and was then employed with the Foreign Offcie on security, serving in Bulgaria, the U.S.S.R., Roumania, Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, Spain and Libya. After retirement he lived in Ilford and died there on 18 January 1974, aged 71. Sold with full research.
