George Moss served with N/2 Battery, Royal Horse Artillery in Egypt, and took part in the dawn attack at Tel-el-Kebir, 13 September 1882. The guns halted until there was enough light to ascertain what was going on. As dawn broke, Major Borradaile ordered N/2 guns forward to come into action. In doing so, the right hand gun shattered a wheel on the face of a parapet, and obtain for the Battery the title ‘Broken Wheel Battery.’
