India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, N.E. Frontier 1891 (4156 Pte. F. Ford 4th. Bn. K.R. Rif. C.) minor edge nick, good very fine £140-£180

Frank Ford was born in Chatham, Kent, in 1868 and attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps in London on 9 May 1887, having previously served in the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. Posted Absent without leave on 3 December 1888, he was convicted of desertion on 14 December 1888, and was sentenced to 112 days imprisonment with hard labour. After serving 70 days he returned to duty on 22 February 1889 and was posted to the 4th Battalion for service in India. He served in India, and in Burma from 31 October 1890, and took part in the operations on the North East Frontier in 1891. Returning home on 6 December 1892, he transferred to the Army Reserve on 14 December 1895, and was discharged ‘Invalid’ on 2 August 1900, after 11 years and 251 days’ service.
