New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated 1863 to 1864 (Capt. F. Falkner. 50th Qn’s Own Regt.) minor edge nicks, nearly very fine £800-£1,000

Frederic Falkner was appointed Ensign in the 50th Foot on 15 December 1854; Lieutenant, 9 March 1855; Captain, by purchase, 18 October 1864. He served in the Crimea, subsequent to the fall of Sebastopol, from the 19th September 1855 until the evacuation on 12 July 1856. He served in the New Zealand war from 15th November 1863 to 1864, including the capture of Rangiawhia (Medal). He was made Brevet Major on 1 October 1877, and was latterly Adjutant of the 1st Admin. Bn., Surrey Rifle Volunteers.
