Alfred H. Pattinson was a native of Willesden. He initially served during the Great War with the 9th (Service) Battalion, Rifle Brigade. Having been awarded the M.M. whilst serving with the latter, Pattinson subsequently transferred to the 13th (Service) Battalion with whom he was serving when he was awarded the Bar to his M.M.
