Alfred Butchart (later no. 200049) was born in Broughty Ferry, Forfarshire. He served during the Great War with the 6th (Perthshire) Battalion, Royal Highlanders (Territorial) on the Western Front. Private Butchart was killed in action, 2 July 1917, and is buried in the Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium.
