Eton College Volunteer Rifle Corps Cadet’s Shako and Later Pattern Helmet c. 1860-1908, the grey cloth covered low crowned shako embellished with three lines of braiding and similar piping around the crown, black patent leather horizontal peak and white metal badge being a strung bugle horn over script letters ‘EVRC’, buff leather sweat band and lining with period inscription ‘W.Anstruther Thomson E.V.R.C. 1874’. The grey cloth 1878 pattern helmet with all white metal fittings, two lines of braiding, correct pattern white metal fittings including spike and quadrant, frontal badge as before, brown leather sweat band and green baize lined peaks, the first with a hole in the cloth top behind the badge, other minor moth holes and the front peak patent leather crazed, the leather lining loose, on the second the braiding with faults and some colour loss otherwise in sound condition (2) £140-200
