R. A. Eyers attested for the Army Air Corps and undertook his Parachute Training Course at R.A.F. Ringway from 31 December 1945 to 23 January 1946- his end of course reports notes: ‘Good parachutist. Has worked hard. Keen.’ He served with the 6th Parachute Battalion in Palestine from 3 June 1946 to 24 January 1947.
