China 1857-60, 1 clasp, Taku Forts 1860 (Corpl. Wm. McDougall, Commt. Staff Corps) officially impressed naming, edge bruise, otherwise good very fine £260-300

William McDougall was born in Canongate, Edinburgh, in 1831, and attested for the 1st Battalion, 71st Foot at the city of his birth in July 1849. He transferred as Gunner to the Royal Artillery in August 1850, and advanced to Acting Bombardier in April 1858. McDougall transferred to the Commissariat Staff Corps in November 1859. He served with the latter as a Corporal during the Second China War, and was discharged at Tsin Tsui, 8 August 1861, having served a total of 12 years.
