D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1916:

‘For conspicuous bravery and devotion; he attended the wounded of various regiments throughout the day, under very heavy shell, machine-gun and rifle fire, constantly exposing himself to the greatest risks in bringing in wounded soldiers who were lying in the open.’

George Edward Lord was born in Leeds and served with the B.E.F. in France from 13 August 1914. He was killed in action on 19 March 1916, and is buried in Cité Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres.
