Charles Wells served with the 5th Battalion, Dorsetshire Regiment in the Balkans from 11 July 1915. The battalion landed at Suvla Bay on 6 August 1915, and in December sailed from Mudros, via Imbros, to Alexandria, where they arrived in February 1916, before moving to France in July.
