A C.B.E. pair awarded to Commander the Hon. Lockhart M. St Clair, C.I.E., C.B.E., Metropolitan Special Constabulary, late Superintending Engineer, Central Provinces, India

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, C.B.E. (Civil) Commander’s 1st type neck badge, silver-gilt and enamels, in its Garrard case of issue; Special Constabulary Medal, G.V.R., 1st issue, 2 clasps, The Great War 1914-18, Long Service, 1929 (Commdr. Hon. Lockhart M. St. Clair, C.I.E., O.B.E.) together with related mounted group of three miniature medals including C.I.E. and C.B.E., both in gold and enamels, nearly extremely fine (5) £300-360

The Hon. Lockhart Matthew St Clair was born on 25 July 1855, the 4th son of 5th Baron Sinclair. He was educated at Wellington College, and the Royal Indian Engineering College, Coopers Hill (M.Inst.C.E.). He joined the Indian Public Works Department as assistant engineer, 1876; executive engineer, Central Provinces, 1883; Simla Imperial Circle, 1885; engineer to the Nepal State, 1899; Superintending Engineer and Secretary to Local Administration, Central Provinces, 1900; retired 1904. During the Great War he was Commandant of the W and Z Division, then attached to Headquarters Staff, Metropolitan Special Constabulary. C.I.E. 1902, O.B.E. 1918, C.B.E. 1925. He married in 1881, Ellen Mary Margaret, daughter of Surgeon Major-General W. Roche Rice, M.D., C.S.I.
