Robert Lionel Adams, a native of West Bromwich, attested for the Staffordshire Yeomanry at Stafford on 10 May 1915, and served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force from 22 January 1916. He transferred to the 18th Squadron, Machine Gun Corps Cavalry on 30 January 1917, and was discharged on account of suffering from Malaria on 9 May 1919 (awarded a Silver War Badge).
