Three: Fitter Sergeant E. C. Broadhurst, Royal Flying Corps

Ernest Cecil Broadhurst was born in London in 1894 and joined the Royal Flying Corps on 16 August 1913. Following the outbreak of the Great War he proceeded to France with the original British Expeditionary Force Royal Flying Corps units, and was subsequently posted to No. 16 Squadron. He was promoted Corporal on 1 December 1915 and Sergeant on 25 October 1916. Appointed Fitter Sergeant on 1 February 1917, he transferred to the Royal Air Force on the latter’s formation on 1 April 1918, and served with Nos. 124 and 185 Squadrons. He was discharged on 4 June 1921.
