August Henry Ziegenbien attested for the 2nd Imperial Light Horse at Cape Town on 25 July 1901, and served with them in South Africa during the Boer War. He subsequently transferred to the Kimberley Regiment, before being discharged at Pietermaritzburg on 17 February 1902. Additionally entitled to the clasps ‘South Africa 1901’ and ‘South Africa 1902’.
