8th (King’s Royal Irish) Hussars Officer’s Full Dress Busby c. 1880-1914, a fine quality brown sable example complete with scarlet cloth bag this with gold gimp and circular knop, correct pattern Hussar gilt chin chain on red moroccan, sewn in gold cord cap lines and corded frontal boss, white leather sweatband with attached crimson silk lining, retailed by ‘Caters, 88 St. James’s St., London’, 44 cm white over red plume with correct pattern gilt plume holder, together with an associated busby tin and plume case, some fur loss around the top edge and to the lower reverse edge, the sewn in cap lines and frontal boss dull, stitching faults to the gimp and knop on the bag otherwise good overall condition (3)
