A 19th century gold Archaeological Revival ram’s head hinged bangle, circa 1860-1870s, the Etruscan styled bangle with ram’s head finely modelled with curling horns and textured fleece, the bangle decorated throughout with applied granulation and ropetwist detail, incorporating scrolls and anthemion designs, unsigned, inner diameter 5.8cm. £3000-4000

A similar bangle is in the Victoria & Albert Museum collections, Case 20; Board H; No 15, catalogued as ‘Italian or English, about 1860-1870. Given by Miss H M Jenkins, a friend of the Novissimo family, who ascribed it to Pasquale Novissimo’; ref M13-1956. And another in the British Museum collections, Gallery 47, dc: 11, ref: 1978,1002.1050.
