An oval hardstone cameo, unmounted, carved to depict the head and shoulders of a classical male in profile a destra, accompanied by a 19th century hand written label, cameo length 29mm. £400-600

The buff rectangular label is stamped ‘Dennison, London’ and reads to one side: ‘F.(?) M.. the Duke of Wellington, K. G., “Cameo”, “brown” , oval shape, a profile head and draped bust of a gentleman. The hair brushed back forming 2 curls’ and to the reverse: ‘No 408. Box 27. See List & case B.’
