Frederick Marlow, a native of Banbury, Oxfordshire, attested for the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry and served with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War. He was present in the famous action at Paardeberg on 18 February 1900 whilst attached to the 4th Mounted Infantry, and was severely burnt in a fire near Belfast on 29 July 1901. He died of his burns the following day, on 30 July 1901.
