Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (3356. Corpl. G. McGregor, 92nd Foot) with ornate silver top riband bar, minor edge nicks, otherwise good very fine £140-180

Gregor McGregor was born Dingwall, Ross-shire in 1841. He attested for the 92nd Foot at Inverness, aged 14, in April 1855. He was appointed Drummer in November the following year, and went absent without leave in April 1856. He was Court Martialed, convicted and sentenced to 28 days imprisonment with hard labor. He served with the Regiment in India, 1860-63, and was appointed Piper in November 1860.

McGregor served in Ireland, before returning to India in 1868. He was invalided home in 1875, and reverted to Private. He advanced to Corporal in August 1877, and Lance-Sergeant in February 1880 (awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1879 - his sole entitlement). He was discharged 19 February 1880, having served 21 years and 3 days with the Colours (
