Queen Elizabeth on the reverse, converted for wear, the edge engraved ‘C.Q.M.S. J. L. A. Gelinas M.M. 76133 3rd. T. Co. C.E.’; Special Constabulary Long Service Medal, G.VI.R. Joseph Lionel Arthur Gelinas was born in Quebec on 21 October 1888, and attested for the 29th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, at Vancouver, British Colombia, on 9 November 1914. He served with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force during the Great War, and transferred to the 3rd Tunnelling Company, Canadian Engineers, on 22 January 1916. Gassed by a mine torpedo in April 1916, he was awarded the Military Medal, and was subsequently advanced to Company Quarter Master Sergeant.

The Dominion of Canada School Competition Medal was awarded to British students for an essay competition on the subject of Canada.
