Charles Frederick Sloper was commissioned into the Royal Air Force (Technical Branch) as a Pilot Officer on 15 April 1943, and was promoted Flying Officer on 29 January 1944; Flight Lieutenant on 29 January 1947; Squadron Leader on 1 October 1955; Wing Commander on 1 July 1963; and Group Captain on 1 January 1968.
