Stanley Albert Barrett was born in 1904 in Epping, Essex. He attested for the 7th Dragoon Guards on 15 April 1918, aged 14, and served in the British Expeditionary Force from 14 December 1918 to 4 March 1919, and in Iraq. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 6 February 1922 and was discharged as Trooper, Royal Tank Corps on 28 May 1925. He subsequently served in the A.R.P. in the Second World War. According to the recipient’s Medal Index Card the G.S.M. is his sole medal entitlement, although he may have qualified for the Defence Medal.

Mohammad Zaman Khan joined the 15th Lancers in 1900, and was promoted Risaldar on 30 July 1918. He served in Kurdistan and Iraq with the 11th Lancers.
