1914 Star, with clasp (7960 L.Sjt. R. C. Kemp. 1/K.R. Rif: C.) the clasp polished, good very fine £70-90

Richard Charles Kemp was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, and attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps on 21 January 1907. Transferring to the Army Reserve on 27 January 1914, he was recalled to the Colours on the outbreak of the Great War, and posted to the 1st Battalion. He served with his Battalion on the Western Front from 13 August 1914, and was taken Prisoner of War on 3 November of that year during the retreat from Mons. He died in captivity on 17 August 1917, and is buried in Berlin South West Cemetery, Germany.
