Ernest Wood was born in Eccleshall, Bradford, Yorkshire, in 1892, and attested for the Yorkshire Regiment on 1 February 1911. He served with ‘D’ Company, 1st Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment during the Third Afghan War on the North West Frontier, and died of bronchial pneumonia on 26 October 1919. He is buried at Peshawar. Also entitled to the British War Medal.
