Four: Colour Sergeant H. G. Burbidge, Royal Marine Light Infantry

Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, no clasp (H. G. Burbidge. Pte. R.M. H.M.S “Minotaur”); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Cape Colony, South Africa 1901 (N. G. [sic] Burbidge, C. Sgt. R.M.L.I. unofficial rivets; Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension (H. G. Burbidge, Sergt. No. 2061 Ports. R.M.L.I.); Khedive’s Star 1882, unnamed, mounted as worn on quadruple silver top riband buckle, edge details slightly worn in places, contact marks overall, therefore good fine or better (4) £300-400

Henry George Burbidge was born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, in May 1861, and attested for the Royal Marine Light Infantry at Bristol, in January 1881. His service included with H.M. ships Minotaur, June 1882-September 1884, H.M.Y. Osborne, April 1885-June 1889, and H.M.S. Monarch, March 1898-December 1901. In November 1901 he was N.C.O. in charge of the Naval Magazine Guard at Simonstown. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in June 1896. In March 1902 he received his discharge from the service and was enrolled into the Royal Fleet Reserve.
