Major John Courts 16th...s), suspensions on both medals altered to accommodate wide ribands as common in India, heavy contact marks and pitting to both, worn, therefore fair (2) £550-750

The 16th Lancers made a notable charge at the Battle of Aliwal on 28 January 1846, during the course of which they suffered 144 casualties, and it is reputed that Courts sounded the charge on his Trumpet.
