3rd Royal Westminster Middlesex Light Infantry Militia Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1878-81, the rounded peak skull complete with all plated fittings, the very fine frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel overlays and circle ‘3rd Royal Westminster Middlesex’, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a strung bugle horn over a shield of arms representing Westminster and Middlesex, a scroll across the bottom of the laurels ‘Mediterranean’, the plate not original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband with red silk lining (part detached), various small moth holes and some staining, the chin chain lining mainly detached otherwise in reasonable condition £500-700
