Alfred Campbell Blair Hall was born in Hampshire on 13 November 1842, and first commissioned on 21 September 1860. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 21 June 1864, and served in Canada, June 1861 to July 1866, and afterwards in Nova Scotia until May 1868. He became Substantive Lieutenant-Colonel in July 1887, and retired on Half-Pay in July 1891.
