Pair: Second Lieutenant G. S. McCall, Seaforth Highlanders, who was severely wounded at Merville and subsequently died of pneumonia in hospital on 20 May 1918

Gilbert Stewart McCall, of Dunfermline, was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Seaforth Highlanders on 18 December 1917, and served during the Great War with the 5th Battalion on the Western Front from 21 March 1918. Wounded when his right leg was shattered by shrapnel at Merville, it had to be amputated in France, and McCall was removed to a hospital in Stockport. There he fell victim to pneumonia, and died on 20 May 1918. He is buried in Dunfermline Cemetery.
