A Crimea D.C.M. group of three awarded to Private T. Fox, Grenadier Guards, who died at Scutari, 16 February 1855

Distinguished Conduct Medal, V.R. (Thos. Fox. 3rd Bn. Grenadr. Gds.); Crimea 1854-56, 4 clasps, Alma, Balaklava, Inkermann, Sebastopol (T. Fox. Grenadier Gds.) officially impressed naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, plugged, claw and foliate suspension crudely affixed, minor edge bruising, generally very fine (3) £1600-2000

Thomas Fox was born at Woodhenly and attested for the Grenadier Guards on 30 January 1850. He served with the 3rd Battalion in the Crimea, and died at Scutari on 16 February 1855, possibly from injuries sustained at the Battle of Inkermann, when the Regiment suffered 3 officers and 101 other ranks killed and 6 officers and 124 other ranks wounded.
