Portrait Miniature of Major General Sir Hussey Vivian KCB When an Officer in the 7th Queen’s Own Light Dragoons, of oval outline Vivian is depicted in the first full dress uniform of the 7th Hussars soon after conversion from Light Dragoons in 1807. He wears a gold braided jacket with slung pelisse, gold lace on scarlet shoulder belt, painted on ivory and his career details written on the reverse, these transcribed onto an accompanying note. Together with a fine quality hard cover book being a ‘Brief Memoir of the Late Lt.-Col. Sir Thomas Noel Harris, K.H. London 1893’. The Vendor states that both these items were recovered in the early 1970s from an East Sussex Council Community tip. The portrait miniature frame is without frontal glazing and is loose, good condition (2) £400-600

Now believed more likely to be a portrait of Lieut. Neville Custance who joined the 7th Hussars from the 23rd RWF in April 1815. He was not present at Waterloo and went on half-pay in 1818.
