Miniature Portrait of an Unidentified British Officer c. 1797, of oval outline the Field Officer is shown in his scarlet coatee with stand-up open-necked white collar, black stock, silver epaulettes and a gilt gorget this with white rosettes, most likely painted on ivory and contained in its original rectangular wooden frame complete with period suspension clip this in the form of a bunch of grapes, the miniature measures 8.8 x 7 cms, very good condition £300-500
