The Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry Officer’s Green Cloth Helmet c. 1881-1901, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, a very fine frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of dark green velvet a silver strung bugle horn overlaid with a twin towered gateway and two feathers these inlaid with red cloth, silver scroll below ‘The Duke of Cornwall’s Lt. Infy.’, the plate not original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband and quilted silk lining, both perished, supplier’s stamp ‘Cater & Co., Pall Mall’, elements of leather missing from the back peak, a moth patch in the back peak and various small cuts to the cloth around the helmet plate otherwise sound condition £500-600
